Features

At the heart of Prio 620 high-performance speaker lies the proriatory innovative driver configuration TAPS, which creates a time coherent point source and allows seamless integration of the different drivers.

The titanium domed high frequency driver developed for the Krypton2 project - the Integrator - extends down to 1200 Hz. It is flanked by two 6.5-inch SEAS paper-papyrus mid-woofers in TAPS-configuration (Time Accurate Point Source)

This produces incredible timing accuracy and unrivalled musicality.

Matthias Böde, Stereo magazine - Germany

The high level of resolution, air, purity and seamless midrange integration were the design goals for Prio 620. Mr. Böde, the Chief Editor of Stereo magazine in Germany compared Prio 620´s clarity and purity to that of Finnish lake.  Let´s hope Prio´s midrange purity offers a glimpse of how refreshing cool lake water feels in the middle of the night, when the sounds of the day have faded away, but the sun is still shining...

U/D/D stands for Uniformly Directive Diffusion. By creating even dispersion the anomalies caused by wall, floor and ceiling reflections are minimized. This allows the listener to hear less of their room and more of their music.

After months of contemplating upgrading my speakers, I finally surrendered to this addiction and bought a new pair a couple of weeks back. The speakers are the Amphion Prio 620s and are driven by the Cayin A88T. I would like to share my first impressions of these speakers.

Coming to the sound. In one word- sublime. They draw you into the music like no other speaker I have heard does and holds you there. The speakers sound tonally rich, smooth, sweet, delicate but yet detailed and fast with great timing. One can hear all the low level details and nuances of the music with the speed associated with it but without being analytical or harsh. This, to me, is an amazing accomplishment. Music sounds cohesive and emanates from one fabric instead of a sum of parts. Loud volumes also do not seem to unfase the speakers which continue to maintain their clarity and poise without compresssion or listner fatigue. Soundstaging and imaging is good.

On the whole, the speakers are highly musical and are driven very well by my tube amp. Kudos to the company for giving us such a gem.
